The fashion wear luxury house, Gucci, has dolled up the UAE’s billboards, following up on their previous hyped appearance with Ryan Gosling. Gucci is no stranger to mega box-office names as their ambassadors, and now they’ve recruited amazing actress Dakota Johnson to usher forth a new era for the Gucci Jackie in honor of the bag's everlasting appeal. Johnson is shown wearing several Jackie 1961 iterations as she goes about her daily business in Los Angeles in the brand's most recent advertising campaign. The narrative of daily life is continued in the campaign that capitalizes on the paparazzi lens motif. Johnson is seen walking with a friend, wearing a brown variation of the bag, and going out at night in a sequence of footage shot from a distance. She is carrying a two-tone snake version with rust leather accents in the nighttime street scene, dressed to the nines in all the visuals. The Gucci Jackie purse was first introduced in 1961 as a representation of the 1960s, but when Jackie Kennedy used it to hide from paparazzi in the 1970s, it quickly became an instant classic that would last for decades. During its well-documented ascent to icon status, it has assumed a recurring silhouette throughout the history of Gucci. Dakota is the perfect modern muse for this updated take on the Gucci classic. In addition to echoing the paparazzi photos that are so integral to contemporary celebrity culture, the commercial imagery by photographer Glen Luchford also chronicled Mrs. Kennedy Onassis's long-standing love affair with the purse. Gucci took over Dubai’s roads in the first week of March over various OOH formats; digital screens, uni-poles, and lampposts, by JCDecaux, BackLite Media, and Emaar.
