Grand Egyptian Museum: The Wait Is Over — Opening 1/11/2025

After a long era of hype, global media attention, and rumored opening dates, Egypt's most awaited cultural project is finally a reality supported by a billboard. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a massive architectural and archaeological project years in the making, officially opens on November 1st, 2025, and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is pulling no punches on the opening.
But this is not just a cultural release in hospitality and tourism, it's a moment of national pride. This OOH activation is building for something monumental. The Grand Egyptian Museum is not only an icon of Egypt's past but a keystone of its touristic and cultural future, and these billboards are treating it just as such.
In one of the most pervasive, in-your-face OOH public administration promotions Egypt has experienced in years, the announcement graphics have taken over nearly every main artery in Cairo and Giza. From the North and South 90 Streets to Mohandessin, from Salah Salem to Lebanon Street, and across iconic bridges like 15 May, 6th of October, and El Mehwar, the message is one and unrelenting: "First of November. The wait is over."
The logo has a big '1' figure, delicately designed in the shape of an illuminated passageway into a golden-hued statue of Ramses II, both hinting at the date and the magnificence of the museum. The identity lockup carries the pyramid-shaped GEM logo capped with gold-lettered headings like "The Grand Egyptian Museum Opening" in Arabic and English. In some executions, the typography is paired with warm-hued interior photographs that suggest the museum's bold design and sprawling corridors. The ad design has a stately but modern appearance, apt for a national project of this scale.
What further elevates the campaign is the sheer density and diversity of placement: massive bridge banners, static billboards, digital screens, and street-pole wraps, strategically curated across commuter-heavy zones. Locations include Abd El Moneim Riyad Square, Mohamed Nageeb Axis, Gamal Abdelnasser, and more, ensuring the campaign meets everyone’s line of vision, whether you’re heading to work or stuck in afternoon traffic.

Partners' brands like TMG, Ezz Steel, Mansour Group, Hassan Allam, NBE, TikTok, and more also prominently emerge, suggesting a sophisticated web of sponsorship behind the grand launch event. All the partners discreetly establish the merging of public and private efforts in realizing GEM's dream.
