GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) climbs on Greater Cairo’s OOH arena with a widely distributed OOH campaign to raise awareness for a cause, Shingles viral infection that causes a painful rash, featuring renowned and popularly loved Esaad Younis. GSK’s prior successful OOH appearance was approximately 5 months ago advertising for multi-vitamins Centrum on Cairo’s outdoor arena.

GSK is back on billboards even stronger with a widely beloved brand ambassador and a heavily distributed campaign on busy roads raising awareness of Herpes Zoster. Shingles can appear anywhere on your body, often manifesting as a singular band of blisters encircling either the left or right side of your torso. This painful condition is triggered by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus responsible for chickenpox.

The ad copy used in the visual translates to “Shingles may be inside you,” and “Consult your doctor about the Shingles virus and ways to prevent it.” The visual also includes Esaad Younis since individuals in her same age range are the most vulnerable to be affected by this virus and she is a suitable ambassador to be able to send the message to this target audience. Her star power is beyond influential. Esaad Younis is portrayed wearing orange since that is the same brand color as GSK’s and this means that the organization is maintaining brand identity. Orange also reflects warmth and security which people need to feel through this campaign.
