7up's new Icy Cool Mojito doesn't waste time explaining itself. The brand's latest Greater Cairo OOH campaign puts Abdallah Diab behind the wheel, can in hand, mid-laugh, turning a static billboard into something that feels caught mid-moment rather than staged for one. There's no product story unfolding across multiple panels, no list of ingredients or flavor notes competing for space. Just a face people recognize, a can within arm's reach, and a Cairo street doing the rest of the work.

A Billboard Built Around a Single Gesture

The creative leans entirely on that gesture. Diab leans out of his car window, extending a frosted can of 7up Icy Cool Mojito toward the camera, condensation still visible on the metal. The composition does the selling before the copy does: a genuine smile, an outstretched hand, a product close enough to feel within reach. Behind him, the visual shifts into a cool blue burst, water droplets and light catching across the board, reinforcing the "icy" promise before a single word is read. It's a small piece of staging, but it does a lot of quiet work, turning a can of soda into something that looks like it was just handed to the viewer personally, not marketed at them from a distance.

The Message Does Double Duty

To the right, bilingual messaging carries the weight the visual leaves open. "GETS COOLER AS YOU SIP" sits above a diamond icon, paired with the Arabic line "ليفل انتعاش مش عادي" (level up your refreshment, not the ordinary kind). It's a tagline built for a highway glance: two languages, one promise, no wasted words. The white typography holds up against the saturated blue backdrop, keeping the board legible even at a distance, a detail that matters more on Cairo's busier roads than in any studio mockup. Running the same idea in both English and Arabic also widens who the board actually speaks to, without needing two separate creatives to do it.

A Familiar Playbook, Refreshed

This isn't 7up's first attempt at making Cairo's outdoor advertising feel less like advertising and more like a mood. Back in 2023, the brand introduced a playful new visual identity across Cairo's OOH media, trading heavier, more traditional soft-drink imagery for something lighter and more energetic. This campaign extends that same instinct, pairing a recognizable face with the brand's established playful tone rather than starting from scratch. The consistency matters more than it might seem; a brand that keeps returning to the same emotional register, season after season, builds recognition that a single clever execution never could on its own.

Why the Campaign Works

What makes the board effective isn't complexity, it's restraint paired with a strong central image. One product, one ambassador, one clear emotional cue: refreshment as something to reach for, not just read about. On a hot Cairo commute, a billboard that makes thirst visible before it makes an argument has already done its job.
