Who—or What—Is Adagio? Egypt’s Newest OOH Teaser Is Keeping Everyone Guessing
Mystery and spectacle are the main components of teaser campaigns, but Adagio is choosing to do things differently by offering pure atmosphere out of thin air.
With no hints of what industry it might belong to, which kind of product or when its official launch date is going to be, the new campaign has made its way around Egyptian streets only in the form of a name, an Italian phrase and some images taken right out of a film still. What industry, product and even kind of a concept this might be is unknown yet—but that is exactly the reason why it becomes hard to ignore it. Nobody knows yet, and that is why everybody starts talking about it.
Starting with the name itself, the word Adagio comes from music and means a slow and unhurried tempo while the accompanying Italian phrase "Dolce Far Niente" means "the sweetness of doing nothing," an ancient Italian phrase dedicated to the joy of relaxing.
Visually, the campaign also sticks to this approach. At the center of the image, there is a cellist who is lit by lights coming from behind, and the ripples of the water can be seen reflecting from under the instrument. On one side, the silhouette of a violinist appears, while a grand piano is subtly present in the background. It creates the feeling of the stage awaiting the start of the show.

The style of visual presentation is very similar to the film directorial style. Lights of warm ambers cut through the haze making the musicians appear like silhouettes rather than individuals. The water provides the feeling of motion but does not distract from anything.
In addition, even the typography is created in a restrained way. The custom wordmark is elegant but not too fancy, and the smooth curves of letters along with the generous spacing between the letters give a breathing space to the logo itself. On the black background, the white letters float freely above everything else.
