Can OOH Take Out Mosquitoes? Raid's Latest Makes a Convincing Case

Mosquito season has a way of making decisions for advertisers, and Raid isn't waiting for it to become someone else's fight. Egypt's summer insect invasion is the moment top-of-mind authority gets built or lost, and Raid picked the one medium built to dominate it: a wide out-of-home push across Greater Cairo's busiest touchpoints.

The message doesn't ease into its claim; it states it outright. "Aqwa Adow Lelhasharat" (Insects' Strongest Enemy) positions Raid as the definitive answer to the season, not one option among several. Black type against a bright yellow background carries that confidence visually, paired with a mosquito shown mid-flight, fleeing its own bottle in visible panic. The color choice does exactly what a summer campaign needs: impossible to scroll past, impossible to miss from a moving car.

The timing carries weight the creative alone can't. Raid's last OOH appearance in Cairo was in 2022; three years is a long silence for a brand chasing top-of-mind status, and every year away from the streets is a year competitors got to claim that space instead. A comeback this overdue needed to announce itself everywhere at once.

Instead, the campaign settled for West Cairo and the 6th of October Bridge, a tight footprint for a brand trying to reclaim three years of lost visibility. East Cairo's commuters, half the capital's daily audience, never encountered the message at all. Top-of-mind authority isn't built in a district; it's built across an entire city, and a campaign this overdue can't afford to leave half of Cairo unconvinced.

Raid's return has the right instinct: a sharp claim, a color that refuses to be ignored, and a visual that makes the threat feel immediate. What it's missing is the scale to match four years of absence. The next rollout should treat all of Cairo the way this one treated West Cairo, like ground that can't be given up.
