In a City That Never Pauses, Vie Collective’s Cairo Billboards Make You Stop
Vie Collective’s new billboard campaign doesn’t just appear across Cairo, it interrupts the chaos with a quiet, impossible-to-ignore presence.
Amidst the most trafficked streets in the city, where billboards tend to yell at passersby, Vie Collective chooses to do the exact opposite. A soft gradient gently bleeds into the background, blending seamlessly into the shades of sky which seem to be closer to the horizon than a commercial billboard. The typography is modest; vie / collective elongated in a deliberate manner, complemented by the understated “Launching Soon.”
It is exactly this modularity that makes the advertisement stand out from its competitors in the saturated market of Cairo. With the millions of visual stimuli that the residents encounter along the Ring Road each day, clarity and minimalism have proven to work better in comparison to excesses. Vie Collective embraces the idea, reducing the advertisement to its core elements; name, presence, and expectation.
Designed to promote a new housing project in New Cairo, it conveys the philosophy of the product in its look. The gradient is a sign of openness and tranquility, an escape from the overcrowded city. With little text and ample spaces, the campaign communicates the idea of exclusivity, as if to say “If you get it, you get it.”
